One Response to Shattered Any Glass Ceilings, Lately?

  1. Lesley Dewar says:

    As the Manager of the Financial Planning Service for the Challenge Bank in Perth (1986) – I was the first woman to get a company car. The CEO (Pat Ryan) took great pleasure in telling me that other managers had suggested that I get
    * a bigger office
    * a bigger mortgage
    * a bigger superannuation package
    but NOT THE COMPANY CAR.

    His response was that “she’s getting the car and she’s getting a red one”.

    When I left the bank, the Manager of Premises presented me with my name plate from the company car park – with the observation that usually the name plates were recycled, but in recognition of my breaking the glass ceiling, they intended to present me with mine, in honour of the event.
