No Tall Poppies is owned and published by Lesley Dewar, an Australian financial planner who retired in May 2009, with twenty five years experience in her profession. She has met many women, in particular, but lots of men, too, who are not tall poppies.
Why poppies? They are very beautiful, whether waving in the breeze in a full field or a single bloom standing alone. Poppy buds are symbols of growth, nurturing and renewal.
No Tall Poppies is created to provide an opportunity for nurturing; support; achievement without glory; on-going renewal; Have a closer look at a field of poppies. We love the way they grow in a group. Some heads slightly bowed; some faces lifting to the sun – and, just occasionally one or two taller poppies.
We think our “No Tall Poppies” will be 35+, working full time or permanent part time after an earlier career, multi-skilled and proven performers in their own style. You may have had a late life career change or overcome great adversity to start again.
Unbeknown to you, you are probably better known than you think or expect – for all the right reasons. You might even receive an invitation to become a “No Tall Poppy” by nomination from a friend or colleague who believes you should be acknowledged quietly (and not so quietly) by your peers.
